Upper GI endoscopy is the second-most common endoscopic procedure in the U.S. It was added due to requests from endoscopists to expand their performance tracking and benchmark quality for patient outcomes.

The registry now includes some of the following:

•    Appropriate specimen acquisition in Barrett’s esophagus
•    Appropriate endoscopic therapy for stigmata of peptic ulcer disease bleeding
•    Appropriate antibiotic prophylaxis
