Much of the $30 million in overpayments stemmed from an outdated software glitch that under charged for treatments. The agency sent letters to involved providers with a 30-day demand for repayment or appeal.
This news comes as Gov. Nathan Deal ordered $65 million in spending reductions for the department with the possibility of $104 million in cuts from next year’s budget.
