CEO of Alaska Hospital Explains Position Against Proposed Surgery Center

Rick Davis, CEO of Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna, Alaska, explains the hospital’s position against a surgeon group’s proposed surgery center for Kenai, Alaska, in a Radio Kenai recording.

Mr. Davis argues the area does not need the additional operating rooms that would come with the new ASC.

 

The surgeon group — Kahtnu Ventures — is proposing to construct a single-story freestanding ambulatory surgical center that will be 8,365 square feet with a projected cost of just under $9.1 million. Kahtnu Ventures recently submitted a second certificate of need application for the facility.

 

Central Peninsula Hospital’s administration and board of directors is encouraging the public to oppose the ASC by commenting on the CON application.
