Waterloo Healthcare has launched LockEVO, an electronic locking, inventory management and compliance platform designed for ASCs and similar healthcare environments.
The platform combines secure access control, controlled substance tracking, real-time inventory management and automated audit reporting, according to a Sept. 2 news release from the company.
LockEVO authenticates individual users through badge access or a username and password and maintains a permanent digital audit trail of cabinet access and items removed. Its controlled substance tracking supports DEA recordkeeping requirements.
The platform also monitors inventory levels and alerts staff before critical items run low. A centralized CommandHub can manage multiple LockEVO cabinets from a single interface, the release said.
The launch comes amid heightened scrutiny of ASC security. In March, two facilities owned by Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health agreed to pay $3.2 million to resolve federal allegations of controlled substance security lapses, and ASC leaders have flagged operational gaps as a recurring driver of safety issues industrywide.
