Here are 13 hospitals and health systems that have announced plans for or opened ambulatory surgery centers.

Aurora Healthcare, based in Milwaukee, plans to build an $81.3 million surgery center and medical office building in Sheboygan, Wis.

Canton-Potsdam Hospital in Potsdam, N.Y., began construction on a $20 million facility that will house medical offices and outpatient surgery services. The second phase of the project will focus on the development of an ambulatory surgery center.

Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, Minn., will officially open its new surgery center, the first phase of a $13 million surgery expansion project, this month.

Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello, Ark., will use a loan from the United States Department of Agriculture to finance in part its $16 million surgery center project.

Rex Healthcare recently inked a deal that will change a hospital-based surgery facility in Wakefield, N.C., into an ambulatory surgery center.

Shenandoah (Iowa) Medical Center broke ground on a $20 million renovation project. The project includes a new surgery center, emergency department and laboratory.

St. Louis Children's Hospital is in the process of developing a 140,000-square-foot outpatient facility. The three-story building will include an ambulatory surgery center, orthopedic services, ophthalmology services, an audiology clinic and imaging center.

The Arizona Board of Regents is set to vote on the proposed merger of Phoenix-based Banner Health and the University of Arizona Health Network, based in Tucson. Under the agreement, Banner would pay off UA Health Network's $146 million in debt and commit investment to several projects including a new ambulatory surgery center at UA Medical Center.

The University of Minnesota, based in Minneapolis and St. Paul, is in the process of building the M Health Clinics and Surgery Center. The project was previously called the Ambulatory Care Center,

Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo (N.Y.) plans to spend $18 million to move outpatient services from its main campus to a new location. The hospital's outpatient services are currently located in five different buildings. The move would centralize ambulatory services.
