7 strategies to improve healthcare quality while truncating costs

Medical Economics laid out ways for providers to maintain high quality while also lowering costs.

Here are seven strategies

1. Facilitate good teamwork. Make sure you work with your team members to align performance incentives and have clear communication pathways.

2. Offer the public health and preventative medicine. Allot a reasonable portion of your budget to offer the entire public preventative services.

3. Use a taxation cost sharing when paying for various health services. Apply these funds across populations and over a period of time.

4. Make your patients accountable. Ensure that all involved in the episode of care share some responsibility, including patients and practitioners.

5. Ensure your incentives are aligned across the board.

6. Make your reports transparent to the public.

7. Use data that allows you to connect with patients and other providers in real-time.
