Here are four things to know:

1. State officials previously approved WNY Medical Management’s plans to open its second site on at the Windsong Medical Park in Buffalo, N.Y. That 12,000-square-foot location was previously used as an ASC by Sisters of Charity Hospital, which moved its surgery center to the St. Joseph’s Campus in Cheektowaga. Windsong opted to lease the space to another tenant.

2. The 16,000-square-foot Sheridan location was available and had also functioned as an ASC in the past. The location’s previous tenant, Ambulatory Surgery Center of Western New York, left the space behind when it opened a larger ASC in Buffalo, N.Y., late in 2017.

3. The Sheridan space is larger than the Windsong location and located on the first floor, featuring four operating rooms and two treatment rooms.

4. The new application will require approvals from the DOH, but is expected to progress quickly since issues of need and owner competency have already been reviewed. State officials will also consider whether to grant the center a license for indefinite life as opposed to the five-year period previously requested.
