Wisconsin Heart Hospital World’s First to Use the Leonardo 3D Vision System

The first case using the 3D Surgical Solutions’ Leonardo 3D Vision System was performed at Wheaton Franciscan-The Wisconsin Heart Hospital Campus in Wauwatosa, according to a news release.

The system was used in a beating heart totally endoscopic coronary artery bypass, said Husam Balkhy, MD, chairman of cardiothoracic surgery and director of the Center for Robotic and Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery at the hospital. Dr. Balkhy also used the Atlanticus 3D Recorder, a component of the Leonardo 3D Vision System to digitally record stereoscopic 3D-HD video. The video can later be used for presentations and teaching purposes.
