UPMC South Side to Become Outpatient Facility

UPMC South Side Hospital in Pittsburgh will become UPMC Mercy South Side Outpatient Center on July 1, according to a report in the South Pittsburgh Reporter.

The new facility will have six to eight operating rooms for outpatient surgery. Additionally, the former emergency department will become an urgent care facility that will operate separately from the surgery center.

The South Side location will still include film X-rays, fluoroscopy, EKG, mammography and other noncomplex imaging services, but CT and MRI services are slated to be removed in the fall.
