University of South Florida Opens Surgery Center

The University of South Florida in Tampa has announced the opening of a $4 million surgery center that will be used to teach physicians how to perform robotic-assisted surgery, according to a report in the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

The new center, which will be called the USF Health daVinci Center for Computer Assisted Surgery, is a partnership between USF and Intuitive Surgical, the company that builds the da Vinci system.

The center is expected to train 600 surgeons per year.
