Study: Younger Children Respond Better to Treatment for Lazy Eye

Younger children with amblyopia, or lazy eye, respond better to treatment than older children, according to a report by the Archives of Ophthalmology.

A meta-analysis found that children ages 5-7 years were more responsive to treatment than children ages 7-13. Variables included baseline visual acuity, refractive error in the affected eye, previous treatment for the condition and type of treatment.

 

Amblyopia involves one eye’s inability to see details.
