Study: Patients With Fibromyalgia Symptoms Unlikely to Have Been Diagnosed

Researchers at Mayo Clinic have found that patients, particularly men, who have fibromyalgia symptoms, are unlikely to have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

The researchers examined data from residents of Olmsted County, Minn., and found that of the 3,410 potential patients, 1,115 had a fibromyalgia diagnosis. However, 6.4 percent of the general population in the county met the fibromyalgia research survey criteria.

The study was published in Arthritis Care & Research.
