The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offers a free checklist for the prevention of central line-associated blood stream infections.

The checklist is based on 2011 CDC guideline for the prevention of intravascular catheter-associated bloodstream infections. The checklist includes items for clinicians, such as performing daily audits to assess the necessity of each central line, and items for facilities, such as empowering staff to stop nonemergent insertion if proper procedures are not followed.
