“We are committed to supporting outpatient and ambulatory centers nationwide as they deliver more family- and patient-centered care,” said Press Ganey CEO Patrick T. Ryan. “Our comprehensive CAHPS program extends beyond regulatory requirements and enables providers to actively identify opportunities to improve performance and reduce patient suffering.”

Here are five key notes:

1. The new survey will complement Press Ganey’s CAHPS solutions portfolio, which already serves more than 8,000 organizations in the United States.

2. Press Ganey will begin the voluntary monthly data collection with the OAS CAHPS survey in January 2016.

3. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality developed the 37 questions included on the survey. The questions are designed to measure patient experience for hospital-based outpatient surgery and free-standing ambulatory surgery centers.

4. The questions will cover patient-reported health outcomes in addition to the patient experience. The questions include CMS-required questions as well as proprietary ambulatory surgery questions for additional insight to better understand the patient perception of care.

5. The data collected can help healthcare organizations identify areas for performance improvement.
