Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital collaborate to expand liver care services: 4 points

Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Camden, N.J., is collaborating with Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia to expand its liver transplant program.

Here are four points:

1. In addition to liver transplant, the program will include expanded hepatology services include the inpatient care of those with acute and chronic advanced liver disease, cirrhosis and management of hepatitis B and C.

2. Manish Thapar, MD, has been appointed the medical director of the Lourdes Liver Transplant Program.

3. He is an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.

4. Prior to joining the Thomas Jefferson faculty, Dr. Thapar served as medical director of liver transplant at Hahnemann University Hospital for the Drexel University School of Medicine in Philadelphia.
