GI physician leader to know: Dr. Dominic Nompleggi of UMass Memorial Medical Center

Dominic Nompleggi, MD, is chief of the gastroenterology division at UMass Memorial Medical Center and an associate professor of medicine at University of Massachusetts Medical School, both located in Worcester. He is also director of Adult Nutrition Support Services at UMass Medical School.

Dr. Nompleggi's focuses on diseases of the stomach and esophagus, including disorders of swallowing, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Barrett’s esophagus, peptic ulcer disease, gastroparesis and other gastrointestinal motility disorders. His research interests include mechanisms of stress-related mucosal damage and rational approach to hospital-based nutrition support. He also has privileges at Marlborough (Mass.) Hospital.  

Dr. Nompleggi completed his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., and his residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School, also in Boston.
