Oneonta Specialty Service ASC Hosts New Biologic Knee Surgery

Research Director for the Bassett Healthcare Shoulder and Sports Medicine Research Institute Jocelyn Wittstein, MD, performed the first cartilage cell transplant procedure at Bassett Healthcare at the Oneonta Specialty Service ambulatory surgery center, according to a CNY News report.

The biologic procedure was performed to heal a patient’s knee defect, according to the report. Dr. Wittstein re-implanted the patient’s cultured cells into the knee to promote healing during the procedure.
