NextGen Healthcare connects to Mass HIway for data exchange: 4 key notes

NextGen Healthcare Information Systems, a subsidiary of Quality Systems, has connected to the Mass HIway, a health information exchange, in an effort towards opening a secure electronic communication channel for Massachusetts providers.

Here are four things to know:

1. Providers who use the HISP solution NextGen Share can exchange patient information with organizations connected to the Mass HIway.

2. The solution supports interoperability across all certified EHR vendors.

3. Providers can exchange clinical data files such as Consolidated-Clinical Document Architecture data.

4. Darrel Harmer, acting secretariat chief information officer at the Massachusetts’ Executive Office of Health and Human Services believes the partnership is an example of how the MassHIway can “improve the speed and efficiency of care coordination” for the state.
