Researchers obtained data from 26,314 unique respondents, aged 18-70, using the Addiction Severity Index-Multimedia Version database. Researchers found the largest group was medically healthy abusers at 35.8 percent, followed by prescribed misusers at 26.9 percent, use as prescribed at 18.9 percent and illicit users at 18.4 percent.
