The study by Kantar Media made the following findings on users of an e-book reader or an e-reader who were regularly looking up medical information:
- One in four were older than age 50.
- 71 percent went online to learn more about a condition.
- 65 percent had been diagnosed with a health condition in the past year.
- One in three initiated discussions with their physician about their condition or a specific treatment.
Almost 28 million Americans use e-books or e-reader apps downloaded from a mobile device.
