The 30,000–square-foot center will feature a 24-hour emergency department and will offer facilities for ENT, orthopedic, eye, urinary and general surgery.
The center will also feature on-site child therapists and kid-friendly features, such as play areas and rooms with video game systems.
Officials said that the new center will help reduce patient volume at Norton’s Kosair Children’s Hospital, which had nearly 100,000 patient visits last year.
The new center is expected to be completed in June 2010.
