The Illinois Health Care Reform Implementation Council will make recommendations to assist the state to establish a health insurance exchange and other consumer protection reforms, reform Medicaid, assure high quality care, identify federal grants and other non-governmental funding sources and foster the widespread adoption of electronic medical records. It will also hold meetings throughout the state to educate the public about the ACA and solicit recommendations.
The council’s first report will be submitted to Governor Quinn by Dec. 31, with periodic reports to follow. The council is made up of various state department directors, including Departments of Healthcare and Family Services, Labor and Public Health.
