Congress Plans to Increase FDA Budget to $2.5B

House-Senate negotiations resulted in a bill that would increase the FDA’s budget by $50 million from last year to a total of $2.5 billion, according to an Atlanta Journal-Constitution report.

The president requested a budget of $234 million more than the approved budget. The FDA’s total budget, which includes user fees, is $3.8 billion. The House is set to vote on the final report this week.
