Devicemakers Want Wider Payments for New Technology Add-On

In comments on proposed changes in reimbursements for fiscal year 2012, the Medical Device Manufacturers Association wanted CMS to adopt a less restrictive policy on new technology add-on payments, according to a news release by MDMA.

Under the proposed changes, there would be an overall negative reimbursement for the category of items, services and procedures under the Medicare Inpatient Prospective Payment System.

 

Citing an “overly stringent criteria for new-technology add-on payments,” MDMA said some devices might not meet the cost threshold under the proposal.
