Here are five points:

1. The initiative hopes to enhance health data exchange regardless of health IT vendor, geography or care setting.

2. The new members expand the effort into the ambulatory market, improve membership representation of provider-engagement, imaging and EMS solutions as well expand reach into the direct-to-consumer area.

3. New members include eClinicalWorks, HIMSS, ImageTrend, lifeIMAGE, Mana Health, MediPortal and Modernizing Medicine.

4. CommonWell Health Alliance now comprises 40 members and represents 72 percent of the acute care EHR market and 34 percent of the ambulatory care EHR market.

5. “The diversity in our membership is representative of our commitment to reach the full continuum of care and to help ensure pertinent patient information is available to patients and caregivers regardless of where care occurred,” said Jitin Asnaani, executive director, CommonWell Health Alliance.
