Massachusett’s Clinical Science Laboratory to Pay $525K to Settle Medicaid Fraud Allegations

Clinical Science Laboratory in Mansfield, Mass., has agreed to pay $525,000 to the state to settle allegations it had fraudulently billed Medicaid for urine drug tests that were not properly ordered by a physician or other authorized provider, according to a news release by Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley.

The investigation found Clinical Science billed Medicaid for unauthorized urine drug tests that were inappropriately ordered for purposes not covered by Medicaid between 2004 and 2009.

Clinical Science has agreed to comply with all state laws and Medicaid regulations in the future in addition to its $525,000 payment.
