The cost-utility study also found that cataract surgery results in a 4,567 percent financial return on investment for society.
The majority of the savings, 68.9 percent, are in Medicare and patient cost savings.
The results of the study will be presented at the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s 117th annual meeting in New Orleans.
