Boston Scientific laying off 85 employees — 4 insights

Boston Scientific is laying off 85 employees at its neuromodulation plant in Burlington, Mass., the Boston Business Journal reports.

Here’s what you should know:

1. Boston Scientific notified employees about the layoffs in October 2017 and informed them the plant’s operations would move to another location, a company representative told the Boston Business Journal.

2. The neuromodulation plant will continue to house research and development, customer service and sales operations.

3. This is the company’s second round of layoffs this year. In February, Boston Scientific laid off 289 employees from another site that made neuromodulation products.

4. The company said in a statement to the Boston Business Journal, “We appreciate the contributions and commitment of the employees directly impacted by this decision. The Burlington team can take pride in the legacy of their accomplishments and dedication to innovation and quality. We understand that this will be a difficult time for those impacted and their families, and we are providing support to help them through the transition.”
