The ASIPP objected the inclusion on the grounds that these injections are commonly performed procedures that have shown good evidence in managing certain types of conditions, such as disc herniation, when performed under fluoroscopic visualization utilizing contemporary interventional pain management modalities with appropriate outcome measures.
According to the ASIPP the burden of providing proof on an NCD decision for these procedures will only add to an overburdened healthcare system.
