70% Increase in Patients Needing Home Healthcare After Hospital Discharge

The number of patients who required home healthcare after hospital discharge increased by 70 percent from 1997 to 2008, according to an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality report.

The report also noted an increase of 40 percent in the number of patients who left against medical advice. However, the number of hospital deaths decreased five percent.
