5 notes on quality & safety in Florida hospitals

Hospital Safety Scores from Leapfrog Group reveal ‘almost half’ of the general, acute-care hospitals in the state of Florida have received an “A” rating, reports Health News Florida.

Here are five things to know:

  • 77 hospitals out of 165 graded earned an “A” rating for safety.
  • No Florida hospitals failed.
  • In spring 2015, seven hospitals earned a “D” grade.
  • Grades from the Leapfrog Group were determined primarily from Medicare data.
  • Although Leapfrog Group believes patient safety should be the first factor a patient considers, they recognize some insurance plans and networks will leave some patients without a choice.
