3 ways technology, physicians & staff can improve ASC management, quality

Strong leadership helps ASC staff be more producing so they can deliver exceptional outcomes, according to Ann Geier, RN, chief nursing officer for Alpharetta, Ga.-based Surgical Information Systems.

1. ASC-focused technology can help streamline operations and support staff in decision-making.

2. A “physician champion” or a physician the ASC relies on to make key decisions, can provide insight on issues facing the ASC, and can lead quality-improvement efforts.

3. Guiding staff and trusting them to make crucial decisions without a manager looking over their shoulder ensures staff will take ownership of their work
