1. Dr. Bhupinder Bolla. Bhupinder S. Bolla, MD, of the Interventional Pain Management Center at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, N.Y., has opened Pain Solutions of Northern New York in Watertown. The 3,100-square-foot clinic features three exam rooms, a recovery room and a procedure room. Treatments at the clinic will focus on spinal pain and peripheral nerve blockage.
2. Dr. Michael Kravetz. Michael Kravetz, MD, pain medicine physician and medical director at HealthSouth Valley of the Sun Rehabilitation Hospital in Glendale, Ariz., was recently awarded the 2012 Medical Leadership and the 2012 Patient Experience Award during HealthSouth’s Medical Directors’ Conference held in Coral Gables, Fla.
3. Dr. Tracy Wimbush. Pain Care in Atlanta announced that Tracy Wimbush, MD, has joined its staff of pain management specialists. Dr. Wimbush has a special interest in fibromyalgia, post-herpetic neuralgia and migraine. She attended University of Rochester Medical School in New York and completed her residency at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital. She then completed the interventional pain management fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
4. Dr. Howard Rosen. ProloGel, a pain relief formula developed by Howard Rosen, MD, is now available for purchase online. Dr. Rosen is a board certified pain management physician who has been the head of several private pain practices including the Central Coast Pain Institute. He found prolotherapy, a method of injecting a solution at the injury site to stimulate the body’s own healing mechanism, useful when combating his own pain problems. He found, however, that his patients shied away from injections and hence developed a gel-based formula of the solution.
5. Dr. Mathew Rupert. Matthew Rupert, MD, has joined Spine Treatment Centers of America in Nashville, Tenn. Dr. Rupert, an interventional pain specialist, will provide minimally invasive spine procedures at the center. He is board certified and his areas of interest include lumbar and cervical degenerative pain as well as peripheral nerve pain. Dr. Rupert has also served as an assistant professor at Vanderbilt University in Nashville.
6. Dr. Larry Nassar. Larry Nassar, DO, a USA Gymnastics National Medical Coordinator, has joined Elite SportZ Band as partner and advisory board member. Dr. Nassar is an associate professor of sports medicine and team physician in the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Michigan State University. He has 30 years of experience working with gymnasts, cheerleaders and dancers.
7. Dr. Jonathan Grossman. Jonathan Grossman, MD, has joined the pain management physician team at Spanish Hills Interventional Pain Specialists in Camarillo, Calif. Dr. Grossman is focused on acute and chronic pain management for spine and non-spine conditions. As part of his specialization, he performs minimally invasive procedures to relive pain. These include balloon kyphoplasty for the treatment of vertebral compression fractures and the mild procedure for lumbar spinal stenosis.
8. Dr. Suzanna Gutierrez. NY SportsMed in New York, has welcomed Suzanne Gutiérrez Teissonniere, MD, to its staff. Dr. Gutiérrez is a board certified diplomat of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, a board certified sports medicine doctor and a fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine. She is trained in interventional spine procedures and electrodiagnostic testing.
9. Dr. Soloman Kamson. Soloman Kamson, MD, an interventional pain physician, is spearheading The Society for Advanced Spinal Intervention. The society states its goals as providing training and education to physicians in the field spine care, including interventional pain physicians, interventional radiologists, neurosurgeons and orthopedic spine surgeons. SASI has plans to establish a U.S. based training and credentialing program that will provide expertise for physicians around the world and eventually launch the program globally.
10. Dr. Allen Hord. Allen Hord, MD, a pain management physician with Interventional Spine and Pain Management in Atlanta, served as a mission director for The Flying Doctors of America trip to Cambodia this fall. ISPM is affiliated with Interventional Management Services. Dr. Hord also serves as on the Flying Doctors’ board of directors year round.
