UPMC, Pensiamo team up with Premier Inc. to launch CognitiveRx

Cognitive supply chain company Pensiamo partnered with healthcare improvement company Premier Inc. to launch CognitiveRx, a supply chain solution that predicts and manages drug shortages.

The system uses machine learning to control and reduce pharmaceutical costs by replacing manual data entry and combining isolated data sources.The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, which ownsPensiamo, will be the first to roll out CognitiveRx to monitor and predict supply shortages and market demand.

Premier will offer CognitiveRx to hospitals and health systems and make purchasing recommendations for high-volume supplies.
