1. Sens. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., and Bill Cassidy, R-La., sent a letter to Dr. Gottlieb on behalf of 29 other senators calling for the FDA to convene its Drug Shortages Task Force.
2. The senators want the task force to craft policy recommendations to prevent nationwide drug shortages.
3. The letter is seeking universal policy recommendations but did specifically mention the local anesthetics and sterile IV fluid shortages.
