Medtronic appoints former J.P. Morgan Chase director to VP post — 5 highlights

Mike Weinsten will serve as Medtronic’s senior vice president of strategy, effective immediately.

Here’s what you should know.

1. Mr. Weinstein will work with Medtronic senior management on strategy, business development, capital deployment and shareholder value creation.

2. He will report to Executive Vice President and CFO Karen Parkhill.

3. Mr. Weinstein previously served as a managing director at J.P. Morgan Chase. He joined the firm in 1992 and led its healthcare team in equity research for more than 20 years.

4. He served as J.P. Morgan’s senior medical technology analyst, beginning in 1995. For the past 15 years, he was the No. 1 ranked analyst in the sector according to annual Institutional Investor and Greenwich Associates surveys.

5. In 2013, Mr. Weinstein was named to the Institutional Investor Hall of Fame.
