Medline plans $19.6M investment for Iowa expansion — 6 insights

Medline seeks to open a new facility in Dubuque, Iowa, KCRG-TV9 reports.

Here are six things to know.

1. Investment in the new facility would total approximately $19.6 million.

2. Medline applied for a $1.5 million incentive package from the Iowa Economic Development Authority. One of the incentives would include 10 years of tax increment financing district rebates through a property tax increase.

3. The healthcare products distributor and manufacturer employs 481 people at an existing Dubuque facility. The expansion would add at least 105 jobs.

4. The Iowa Economic Development Authority will consider Medline’s application the week of March 19. Dubuque City Council members are deciding that week whether to endorse the application and are expected to set a public hearing May 21.

5. Medline’s request has the backing of Dubuque Mayor Roy Buol, D-Iowa.

6. If the project is approved, Medline plans to begin operations in the new building at the end of 2019.

Update: The Dubuque City Council approved the expansion, according to KCRG-TV9. Medline can now apply for funding from the state.
