Cardinal Health not worried about Amazon’s entry into healthcare — 4 things to know

With news that Amazon is entering the pharmaceutical business, Cardinal Health’s CFO Jorge Gomez said the company isn’t worried about any potential threats to its customer base, The Street reports.

Here’s what you should know:

1. Mr. Gomez cited the company’s unique, daily customer interactions as the reason why Cardinal isn’t worried about Amazon.

2. He said, “We have the clinical knowledge, the regulatory knowledge and the legal knowledge to manage orders … and to get the best possible cost equation for our customers.”

3. Despite Mr. Gomez’s assurance, any announcement concerning Amazon entering the healthcare marketplace is causing stocks to tumble industrywide. Cardinal is not immune.

4. When Mr. Gomez was asked about Cardinal’s medical supply business, he called the company’s management process unreplicable.
