Three supply chain mistakes to avoid: :
1. Poor group purchasing. ASCs can avoid losing money through supply chain by ordering from more than one group purchasing organization. Managers should consistently review purchasing patterns and their GPO contracts to see which ones offer the best deals.
2. Outdated physician preference cards. Relying on paper instead of digital physician preference cards can add to labor costs through added maintenance and lost productivity.
3. Non-standardized supply purchases. Not standardizing supplies through considering what supplies are ordered and from what distributors can cause an ASC to lose money. When supplies are standardized, costs remain constant.
