ASC supply chain tip of the day: Consider how items are shipped

ASCs can cut costs by controlling how supplies are shipped, according to FreightCenter’s Terese Kerrigan, director of marketing communications.

She shared the following tip with Becker’s ASC Review:

“Eliminating clinical processes is a popular cost-saving measure taken by ASC supply chain managers, but they may not know they have the same control over transportation costs. Does the cost of equipment or supplies include shipping? How are the supplies packaged? Bulky, hard-to-open packaging can be frustrating to open, store and discard.”
