The procedure was performed by Ryan Duncan, MD, an ENT physician of Brentwood, Tenn.-based Heritage Medical Associates.

Inspire Therapy from Inspire Medical Systems is a surgically implanted device that monitors breathing of obstructive sleep apnea patients. The therapy is an alternative to the continuous positive airway pressure machine, which many OSA patients find difficult or impossible to use.
