Total orthopedic surgeon pay increased in 2018 — Here's how much

A report from SullivanCotter which surveyed 167,000 physicians and advanced practice providers representing 750 hospitals, medical groups and health systems, found orthopedic surgeon pay increased from 2017 to 2018.

1. In 2018, orthopedic surgeons made a base salary of $553,537, which is an increase of 0.2 percent from 2017.

2. The total compensation for orthopedic surgeons was $609,439 in 2018, which is a 3.2 percent increase from 2017 to 2018.

3. Orthopedists ranked No. 1 in base salary and total compensation compared to other specialties.
