Total joints performed as outpatients to jump 42% by 2028

More than half of all non-fracture knee and hip replacements will be performed in the outpatient setting by 2028, health consultant firm Sg2 predicts.

ASC Focus published Sg2's forecast of what percentage of total joints will be performed as inpatient and outpatient in the next decade. Twelve numbers to know:

Outpatient: 15 percent
Inpatient: 85 percent

Outpatient:23 percent
Inpatient: 77 percent

Outpatient: 31 percent
Inpatient: 69 percent

Outpatient: 40 percent
Inpatient: 60 percent

Outpatient: 48 percent
Inpatient: 52 percent

Outpatient: 57 percent
