Premier Orthopaedics inks 5-year agreement with Independence Blue Cross: 3 details

Philadelphia-based Premier Orthopaedics, a physician-owned practice, signed a five-year agreement with Independence Blue Cross to lower the costs of healthcare and improve quality, The Mercury reported.

Here are the key details to know:

1. Under the agreement, Premier has become a participant in Independence's Facilitated Health Networks model.

2. Through the model, Premier will implement site of service and episode of care programs, putting their physicians in charge of an entire episode of care.

3. Matt O'Malley, Premier’s CEO said the agreement "exemplifies our commitment to our patients and will allow our physicians and therapists to provide them with the most efficient, comprehensive and highest quality musculoskeletal care available in our area."
