As traditional areas of profit for orthopedic surgeons are in flux, some orthopedic surgeons think an ASC focus is the way to maintain profit.

Orthopaedic Medical Group of Tampa Bay broke ground on a 37,000-square-foot medical complex with an ASC in Fish Hawk, Fla., according to an April 21 release. 

Patients with preexisting mental illnesses undergoing outpatient total joint replacements had an increased risk of adverse outcomes when compared to inpatient joint replacements, researchers from Charlottesville-based University of Virginia found.
