Healthcare Appraisers and the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association compiled the report based on responses from 26 companies that collectively own or manage more than 1,000 ASCs across the country.
Three noteworthy statistics:
1. On a scale of 1 to 5, survey respondents ranked orthopedics as the most desirable type of case performed at an ASCs at 4.7.
2. Spine and neurosurgery followed orthopedics at 4.3 and 4.
3. The push for site-neutral payments and total joint replacement surgeries being performed on an outpatient basis is driving investment in freestanding ASCs.
