Orlando (Fla.) Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute has acquired Florida Sports Injury & Orthopedic Institute, adding six orthopedic and sports medicine physicians in Clermont, Fla., as of Nov. 5.
Florida Sports Injury & Orthopedic Institute has served the area since 2011 from the campus of Orlando Health South Lake Hospital in Clermont. Its physicians cover sports medicine, joint reconstruction, hand surgery and nonoperative sports medicine care, according to a news release shared with Becker’s.
Patients will keep seeing the same physicians at the practice’s existing location, and the site will be rebranded as Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute. The release did not disclose financial terms.
“We have a longstanding relationship with Orlando Health and have always shared a commitment to delivering excellent patient care,” Amit Varma, MD, who joined the institute’s Clermont location through the acquisition, said in the release. Dr. Varma said the group will keep supporting local high school athletes.
Michael Jablonski, MD, senior vice president of Orlando Health and president of the Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute and Orlando Health Neuroscience Institute, said the physicians’ record of patient-focused care fits the system’s values.
Orlando Health is a nonprofit academic system with $15 billion in assets under management. It serves Florida, Alabama and Puerto Rico.
