Healthgrades’ 50 best hospitals for outpatient joint replacement in 2027

California has seven hospitals on Healthgrades’ list of America’s 50 Best Hospitals for Outpatient Joint Replacement, the most of any state. Maryland and New Jersey follow with four each, while Connecticut, Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Texas have three each.

Forty-one hospitals have made the list three years running, and one — Community Memorial Hospital San Buenaventura in Ventura, Calif. — was on neither the 2025 nor the 2026 list. Healthgrades announced its 2027 Specialty Excellence Awards Oct. 27.

Healthgrades selected the top 50 hospitals from its Outpatient Joint Replacement Excellence Award recipients based on risk-adjusted complication rates among Medicare patients who underwent outpatient total knee or total hip replacement from 2023 through 2025. Complications counted include those during the outpatient visit and unplanned adverse events up to one year after the procedure. Read the full methodology here.
