Dr. Paul Chin becomes 1st surgeon in Texas to use Catalyst Orthoscience device: 5 takeaways

Orthopedic surgeon Paul Chin, MD, is the first surgeon in Texas to perform shoulder replacement surgery using Catalyst Orthoscience’s CSR shoulder.

1. The procedure involves using an implant one-third the size of traditional shoulder implants and requires less bone removal.

2. Catalyst Orthoscience’s implant is designed for more accurate placement and to give patients quicker recovery times.

3. The device is designed to allow patients to stop using opioids three to four days after surgery and to cut their hospital stays in half.

4. The CSR shoulder earned FDA approval in 2016. Since then, hundreds of surgeries have been performed using the device.
