The guidelines are based on data analyzed from 11 studies.

The recommendations include:

1. Physical activity should be an integral part of standard care.

2. Healthcare providers should be responsible for promoting physical activity as a treatment option and facilitate close cooperation between different professions to support appropriate disease management.

3. The delivery of physical activity interventions should be performed by healthcare providers competent in the field of physical activity principles and rheumatic conditions.

4. The physical activity interventions should be based on regularly evaluated individual aims. The evaluations can include physical activity assessments in addition to other assessment tools.

5. Healthcare providers should consider the whole range of modes to deliver interventions.

6. The authors also said public health recommendations for physical activities are safe.
